Reelgood Streaming Top 10: East of Eden Debuts at #1 as Lanterns and Ted Lasso Reach Finale Week

Here’s your Reelgood Streaming Top 10 (movies & TV) snapshot for October 1-7, 2026:

East of Eden debuts at #1 on Netflix, moving last week’s #1, Backrooms, down to #2 on HBO Max. The seven-episode adaptation of John Steinbeck’s novel, led by Florence Pugh, tops the chart in its first week.

Season finales shape the rest of the chart. Lanterns and Ted Lasso both wrapped their seasons inside the window, and both moved up. Ted Lasso’s return also puts Apple TV back on the chart one week after the service went without a title for the first time since late April.

Seven services place a title for the second straight week, but the mix shifted. HBO Max leads with three spots. Disney+ drops off with Toy Story 5’s exit, and Prime Video goes from two titles to one as Neagley leaves the chart. Monster and Promising Young Woman also drop off.

This past week’s highlights:

  • Finale weeks lift two series: Lanterns climbs from #5 to #3 in its eighth straight week on the chart, the same week its first-season finale aired on October 4. It hasn’t ranked lower than #5 since entering at #5 for August 13-19. Ted Lasso returns at #7 on Apple TV after two weeks off the chart, coinciding with its fourth season’s tenth and final episode arriving at the close of the window. It had charted six straight weeks following its August 5 premiere.
  • Two premieres, two release models: East of Eden and War both started streaming October 1, the first day of the window, and both charted in their first week. Netflix released all seven episodes of East of Eden at once, its usual approach. HBO Max is rolling out War, a legal drama starring Dominic West and Sienna Miller, one episode a week on Thursdays, its typical cadence, and the series enters at #8 with a single episode out.
  • HBO Max’s three titles cover three stages: Backrooms in its second week, Lanterns in its finale week, and War in its premiere week. It’s the first time HBO Max has placed three titles since September 10-16, and it’s the only service with more than two this week.
  • Netflix turns over its pair: Monster exits after two weeks on the chart (#1, then #3), and Unabomber slips from #2 to #4 in its second week. East of Eden keeps Netflix at two titles for a second straight week.
  • Weekly series edge up on Paramount+ and Hulu: MobLand moves from #6 to #5 in its third straight week since its second season began, and American Horror Story rises from #10 to #9 in its second week. With Monster gone, American Horror Story is now the only Ryan Murphy anthology on the chart.
  • Obsession (Peacock): Returns at #10, its tenth appearance in the twelve weeks since it debuted at #1 the week it began streaming on Peacock in mid-July. The horror film has alternated on and off the chart for the past four weeks.

Reelgood Streaming Top 10 chart for October 1 to October 7, 2026, ranking ten movies and TV shows: East of Eden on Netflix at #1, Backrooms on HBO Max at #2, Lanterns on HBO Max at #3, Unabomber on Netflix at #4, MobLand on Paramount+ at #5, The Love Hypothesis on Prime Video at #6, Ted Lasso on Apple TV at #7, War on HBO Max at #8, American Horror Story on Hulu at #9, and Obsession on Peacock at #10.
