Meet Pablo Lucio Paredes, Head of Engineering & Data at Reelgood

We recently caught up with Pablo, our Head of Engineering and Data to find out what he loves about streaming, how a good challenge inspires his work, and how he’s helping Reelgood deliver industry-shaping solutions.
Hey Pablo! Tell us, when did you join Team Reelgood?
I joined Reelgood during the summer of 2017.
What’s your role here at Reelgood?
I’m currently Head of Engineering and Data.
Can you tell us about being the Head of Engineering and Data?
Sure. I’m responsible for all of Reelgood’s technology and data efforts. I lead a team that includes front-end, back-end, and data engineers, data scientists, and data analysts that focus and specialize in building our data products and consumer apps.
At Reelgood, this team makes sure that our data products are pristine and completely accurate so that our users can find content seamlessly and that our clients get the highest quality data through our offerings. We’re also responsible for building all of the amazing features in our apps that make finding the content users want seamless and engaging.
What challenges do you experience in data and engineering, and how do you solve them?
My team’s challenges in engineering and data revolve around technology and its limitations. Specifically, it’s in making sure that all our teams can collaborate while building state-of-the-art technology. Luckily, I get to work with a bunch of incredibly talented engineers and data scientists/analysts that make the challenges we solve daily incredibly rewarding and even entertaining.
What do you find most interesting about the streaming industry?
Ultimately, streaming is about leisure and exploring other worlds from the comfort of your home. I like to think that by building software and AI that helps people during their content discovery journey, I am helping to accelerate their decision-making and, therefore, their enjoyment.
Pablo, what inspires you in your personal life? In your professional life?
I’ve always been interested in problem-solving, logic, and the limits of human intelligence – it’s part of what I studied and what still interests me the most to this day. Honestly, I’m just happy I can tap into those interests at work every day with an amazing team.
In my personal life, I have many interests similar to those at work, including philosophy and athletic competitions.
What do you like best about working for Reelgood?
Two things. First, I enjoy the people I get to work with daily and the culture we have built. Second, every day at Reelgood is full of endless opportunities. Working on our products and in the streaming industry is like solving an ever-changing puzzle. I personally really enjoy challenges that combine the reality of day-to-day entertainment choices with modern technology.
