Reelgood Streaming Top 10: Animals Takes #1 as Six New Releases Reset the Chart
Here’s your Reelgood Streaming Top 10 (movies & TV) snapshot for October 8-14, 2026:
Animals debuts at #1 on Netflix, pushing last week’s #1, East of Eden, down to #5. The R-rated thriller, directed by and starring Ben Affleck, opened in select theaters and on Netflix on October 9, the second day of the window.
Six of the ten titles are new entries, and every one started streaming between October 7 and October 10. Six titles from last week drop off: Backrooms, Unabomber, The Love Hypothesis, War, American Horror Story, and Obsession.
Seven services place a title for the third straight week. Netflix leads with three spots and is the only service with more than two. HBO Max, which led last week with three, is down to one.
This past week’s highlights:
- Last-day premieres chart the following week, for a third time: Carrie, a new TV adaptation of Stephen King’s novel, released all eight episodes on Prime Video on October 7, the final day of last week’s window, and missed that chart. With a full week of eligibility, it enters at #2. The same sequence played out with Neagley and Slow Horses (September 16) and with The Love Hypothesis and Toy Story 5 (September 23).
- Theatrical films reach streaming: Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day, in theaters since June 12, began streaming exclusively on Peacock on October 9 and enters at #3. Hokum, NEON’s horror film starring Adam Scott, reached Hulu on October 10 after a theatrical run earlier this year and enters at #10 with five days in the window. The two replace Obsession and American Horror Story as each service’s only title.
- Netflix stacks three: Animals (#1), Below (#4), and East of Eden (#5) give Netflix three of the top five. Below, a six-episode supernatural thriller, premiered October 8, the first day of the window. East of Eden falls four spots in its second week.
- Apple TV doubles up, two weeks after a shutout: Ted Lasso moves from #7 to #6 in the first full week after its fourth season’s finale, and Matchbox: The Movie, starring John Cena, enters at #7 after premiering October 9. Two weeks ago, Apple TV had no titles on the chart for the first time since late April.
- Lanterns slides after its finale: Lanterns falls from #3 to #8 on HBO Max in its ninth straight week on the chart, the first full week after its October 4 season finale. It’s the lowest the series has ranked since entering at #5 for August 13-19. With Backrooms and War both off the chart, it’s HBO Max’s only title.
- MobLand slips mid-season: MobLand drops from #5 to #9 on Paramount+ in its fourth straight week on the chart, even with its fourth episode arriving October 9. The second season runs weekly through a November 20 finale.
