Reelgood Streaming Top 10: Lanterns Takes #1 in Its First Full Week as 9 to 5 Charts After Dolly Parton’s Death
Here’s your Reelgood Streaming Top 10 (movies & TV) snapshot for August 20-26, 2026:
Lanterns climbs from #5 to #1 on HBO Max in its first full week of chart eligibility. The DCU series premiered August 16, days before last week’s window closed, and gave viewers only a partial week to find it. This week they had all seven days plus a second episode. Reacher, which took #1 last week on the strength of its Season 4 premiere, slides to #4 on Prime Video.
Dolly Parton died August 25, and 9 to 5 enters at #8 on Philo. The 1980 comedy was Parton’s feature film debut, and its arrival is the clearest cultural driver on this week’s chart.
Eight services placed titles, up from seven last week. Philo and Paramount+ each land one, and neither appeared on last week’s chart.
This past week’s highlights:
- HBO Max swaps one tentpole for another: Lanterns takes #1 with its second episode arriving August 23. House of the Dragon drops off entirely, two weeks after its Season 3 finale aired August 9 and one week after it climbed to #4. HBO Max goes from two titles to one, but it is the top one.
- A 1980 comedy enters at #8: Parton died in Nashville on August 25 at age 80, and 9 to 5 charts on Philo the same week. The timing of its availability was not built around the news. The film had already been added to Philo‘s free ad-supported tier earlier in August, and the service moved it to a home screen placement the day the news broke. It streams free there through August 31, so its window on the service closes at the end of the month. This is Philo‘s first chart title since Troy sat at #10 in late July, and both were catalog films that surfaced alongside an outside event.
- Don’t Say Good Luck (Netflix): The film climbs six spots, #9 to #3, in its first full week. It released August 14, giving it six days inside last week’s window, which explains the modest debut position.
- Apple TV places two: Ted Lasso climbs to #2, its highest position since the season began, in a third straight week on the chart. Episode 4 arrived August 26, with weekly episodes running to an October 7 finale. Silo returns at #7 after a week off, its eighth episode landing August 21 and the season finale set for September 4.
- Two weekly dramas move in the back half: Furious climbs #8 to #5 on Hulu. Its seventh episode aired August 24 and the finale arrives August 31. Hulu renewed the series for a second season on August 27, after this window closed. Lioness enters at #9 on Paramount+ in the fourth week of its season, which premiered August 2 with weekly episodes through a September 20 finale. This is its first chart appearance since that premiere.
- Prime Video’s two titles diverge: Reacher falls from #1 to #4 with new episodes still arriving weekly through its September 16 finale. Sterling Point holds at #10 for a second straight week, its third week on the chart since its August 5 full-season release.
- No title has lasted longer than Obsession: Peacock‘s title holds at #6 for a second consecutive week and is the only title to appear on all six charts since mid-July, moving #1, #2, #2, #4, #6, #6. Nothing else on this week’s chart has a run longer than four weeks, and House of the Dragon‘s five-week streak ended when it dropped off. The length of the run is the number worth tracking, not the position.
