Reelgood Streaming Top 10: Masters of the Universe Debuts at #1 Despite a Box Office Miss as Four New Releases Reset the Chart
Here’s your Reelgood Streaming Top 10 (movies & TV) snapshot for July 23–29, 2026, 2026:
Masters of the Universe takes #1 on Prime Video in its first week on the service, and the streaming debut tells a different story than the theatrical one did. The He-Man reboot landed on Prime Video July 22 after grossing roughly $113 million worldwide against a reported $170 to $200 million budget, a box office result that fell well short of its cost. On streaming, it opened at the top of the chart.
It wasn’t alone. Three more high-profile releases reached streaming inside the same window: 72 Hours enters at #4 on Netflix, The Dink enters at #9 on Apple TV, and The Devil Wears Prada 2 enters at #8 on Disney+, arriving July 29, the final day of the chart window. Combined with Masters of the Universe, four new titles now hold four of the ten spots.
The new arrivals came at the expense of the chart’s steadiest performers. Project Hail Mary fell from #2 to #7, its sharpest single-week drop since it moved to Prime Video, and House of the Dragon eased from #3 to #6 even as its sixth episode aired inside the window. The ten titles span seven services, up from six a week ago.
This past week’s highlights:
- Masters of the Universe (Prime Video): The film’s $113 million global gross covered barely half of its production budget, and its theatrical run was widely described as a disappointment for Amazon MGM Studios. It reached Prime Video on July 22, a 47-day theatrical-to-streaming window, and moved directly to #1. The mismatch between its box office reception and its streaming debut is the clearest split on this week’s chart between a title’s theatrical performance and its performance once it’s free to watch.
- Two originals skip theaters entirely: 72 Hours enters at #4 on Netflix, a Kevin Hart comedy that went straight to the service worldwide on July 24 with no theatrical run. The Dink enters at #9 on Apple TV, a Ben Stiller-produced pickleball comedy starring Jake Johnson that premiered globally the same day, July 24. Both titles built their opening week entirely from streaming interactions, with no box office data to compare against.
- The Devil Wears Prada 2 (Disney+): The sequel enters at #8 after grossing more than $676 million worldwide in its theatrical run, one of 2026’s higher-grossing releases. It began streaming on Disney+ and Hulu on July 29, the last day of this chart’s window, giving it a single day to register before the rankings closed. A stronger showing next week would be consistent with a fuller week of eligibility rather than any change in the title’s popularity.
- The established leaders give ground: Project Hail Mary dropped five spots, from #2 to #7, its steepest week-over-week decline since its Prime Video debut in early July. House of the Dragon slid from #3 to #6 even though its sixth episode, aired July 26, landed inside the window. Neither title lost an episode or platform; the four new premieres simply took the room both had been holding.
- Troy fades as the Odyssey wave keeps rolling: Troy dropped from #6 to #10 on Philo, its third straight week on the chart since Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey opened July 17 and pulled interest toward the 2004 Trojan War film. The Odyssey posted an $87 million second weekend July 24 to 26, the best second-weekend hold of Nolan’s career, so the pullback in Troy‘s chart position comes even as the theatrical release it’s riding coattails on keeps performing. The initial curiosity that lifted Troy appears to be cooling faster than the film driving it.
