Reelgood Streaming Top 10: Same-Day Premieres Put HBO Max Level With Apple TV
Here’s your Reelgood Streaming Top 10 (movies & TV) snapshot for September 10-16, 2026:
HBO Max and Apple TV each placed three titles on this week’s chart, the most of any service, after two premieres landed on HBO Max the same day. Mayday holds #1 on Apple TV for a second consecutive week.
Turnover elsewhere is sharp. Furious falls off the chart completely after landing at #9 last week, and Silo drops from #2 to #9, both fading fast in the week after their respective finales. The Gentlemen and Why Did I Get Married Again? enter at #4 and #8 on Netflix, a full week after each one premiered.
Just five services placed a title this week, down from seven in each of the two prior weeks. Hulu, Peacock, and Disney+ all charted last week and are absent from this one.
This past week’s highlights:
- HBO Max’s same-day double: Practical Magic climbs to #3 the week its sequel, Practical Magic 2, opened in wide theatrical release. It’s a similar arc to The Devil Wears Prada in early May, which entered the chart at #5 on Disney+ ahead of its own sequel, then climbed four spots to #1 the week The Devil Wears Prada 2 opened to $77 million domestically and $233.6 million worldwide. Supergirl enters at #6 the same day the film began streaming exclusively on HBO Max, roughly eleven weeks after its June 26 theatrical debut.
- Mayday (Apple TV): Holds #1 for a second week, while Silo, which debuted alongside it at #2 last week, falls to #9.
- The finale hangover: Both shows spiked on their season finales and cooled quickly after. Furious hit #1 the week its finale aired alongside a second-season renewal announcement; a week later it had slipped to #9, and this week, two weeks removed from that peak, it’s off the chart entirely. Silo followed the same pattern a week behind: it jumped to #2 when its own third season finale aired September 4, the same day Apple TV confirmed a July 9, 2027 premiere for the show’s fourth and final season. One week past that news cycle, it settles to #9.
- Two premieres arrive a week late: The Gentlemen season 2 premiered on Netflix September 3, and Why Did I Get Married Again? followed six days later on September 9. Neither cracked last week’s chart despite premiering inside that window, only converting to Top 10 interaction the following week.
- Weekly series keep their footing: Lanterns climbs to #2, its fifth straight week on the chart since its August 16 premiere, with new episodes still landing every Sunday. Ted Lasso is now in its sixth straight week in the Top 10 since season four returned August 5, a real run, but still well short of the standard set by The Pitt, which held a Top 10 spot for essentially the whole of its 15-episode second season this spring.
