Paramount+ Is 30% of Skydance’s Combined Catalog but Carries 47 of Its 100 Most Popular Titles
Put HBO Max, Paramount+ and Discovery+ together and you get 6,395 distinct US titles. HBO Max brings 62% of them.
Yet based on activity in the Reelgood app, Paramount+ carries 47 of the 100 most popular titles in that combined catalog with less than a third of the count.
In the first post in this series, we found HBO Max and Paramount+ share just six titles. This one looks at what the combined catalog holds: which service brings the demand, how old the titles are, and what they are about.
Key Takeaways
- Paramount+ is 30% of the combined catalog but carries 47 of its 100 most popular titles, based on activity in the Reelgood app. HBO Max, with 62% of the titles, carries 55.
- A combined HBO Max, Paramount+ and Discovery+ catalog holds 6,395 distinct US titles: 3,306 movies (52%) and 3,089 TV shows (48%).

Paramount+ is 30% of the combined catalog but carries 47 of its 100 most popular titles
Based on activity in the Reelgood app, the most popular titles in the combined catalog come from both flagship services in close to equal measure, even though HBO Max carries twice as many titles.
HBO Max holds 3,955 of the 6,395 titles (62%) and 55 of the top 100. Paramount+ holds 1,937 (30%) and 47 of the top 100. A few titles sit on two services, so the service figures add up to more than the total.
Much of Paramount+’s weight comes from library TV.
Of the 31 top-100 titles released before 2010, 19 are on Paramount+, including Survivor, NCIS, Criminal Minds, Frasier and Cheers. HBO Max’s older entries include The Sopranos, Friends and The West Wing.
For a single service, that means neither brand is the junior partner on demand. HBO Max brings scale. Paramount+ brings a smaller catalog whose titles draw attention well beyond their share of the count.
At the very top, the ten most popular shows split six to four. HBO Max supplies Lanterns, War, Youth, The Pitt, Mad Men and The Wire. Paramount+ supplies Lioness, MobLand, South Park and Colin from Accounts.
On the movie side, four of the top five come from HBO Max: Backrooms, Evil Dead Burn, Supergirl and the 1998 Practical Magic, whose standing coincides with Warner Bros. releasing Practical Magic 2 in theaters on September 11. Tuner comes from Paramount+.

Discovery+ barely registers at the top. It accounts for 19% of the combined catalog but 1 of the top 100 (Halloween Baking Championship, which is also on HBO Max) and 47 of the top 500.
Three-quarters of Skydance’s combined catalog was released since 2010
The combined catalog is recent.
74% of its titles came out in 2010 or later, and 44% in the 2020s alone. Pre-2000 titles make up just 15%.

Skydance’s older titles mostly sit on its free service, Pluto TV: 79% of the pre-2000 titles it streams in the US are on Pluto TV and none of its paid services.
We will look at Pluto TV in an upcoming post.
Nonfiction leads the TV side of the combined catalog
The combined catalog holds 3,306 movies and 3,089 shows.
- On the TV side, documentary appears on 40% of shows (1,251) and reality on 40% (1,226), well ahead of crime (20%) and drama (18%).

Genres and tags follow Reelgood’s content taxonomy.

Skydance’s combined US subscription catalog is 52% movies and 48% TV, with documentary and reality each on about 40% of shows. Data: Reelgood Movie & TV Metadata & Streaming Availability Database (US, Oct 5, 2026).
The two flagship services lean differently.
- HBO Max leans nonfiction: 38% of its titles are documentary and 21% reality, against 27% and 7% on Paramount+.
- Paramount+ leans comedy, at 36% of its titles, twice HBO Max’s 18%. Combined, each fills gaps in the other.
In the UK, the same three services hold 3,404 titles.
The mix tilts further toward TV (55% of titles) and toward crime, which appears on nearly a quarter of UK shows against 20% in the US.
Women’s stories and voices is the most common theme in Skydance’s combined catalog
Genres say what kind of title something is. Tags (Reelgood’s sub-genres) say what it is about.
At that level, women’s stories and voices ranks first for both movies (20%) and TV (15%).
Beyond that, the two halves diverge.
- Movies lean dark and personal: dark and intense (19%), relationships (18%) and true story (12%) come next.
- TV adds investigation and lighter fare: feel-good (14%), detectives and investigation (12%) and justice system (11%) all rank in its top six.

Women’s stories and voices is the most common thematic tag for both movies and TV in Skydance’s combined catalog. Data: Reelgood Movie & TV Metadata & Streaming Availability Database (US, Oct 5, 2026).
For a merged service, those tags are the raw material for discovery.
Rows built only on genre would put a true-crime docuseries and a home-renovation show in the same “documentary and reality” bucket. Tags are what separate them.

Data: Reelgood Movie & TV Metadata & Streaming Availability Database, October 5, 2026. Combined catalog = HBO Max, Paramount+ (Premium tier) and Discovery+ (SVOD). Listed service by service, the three hold 7,112 titles; 717 listings are the same title on two services (711 of them Discovery+ titles also on HBO Max), leaving 6,395 distinct titles. Shares by service therefore add to more than 100%. Genres and tags use Reelgood’s taxonomy; titles can carry several, so genre and tag shares do not sum to 100%. Release-year figures exclude 35 US titles without a release year. Popularity rankings cover titles on these three services, based on activity in the Reelgood app in the US, as of October 5, 2026.
